What to expect...
Baracoa was the first Spanish settlement in Cuba and as such, also the first capital of the country. Caused from its secluded location and being only accessibly by water until the 1960s, Baracoa has a very unique charm and culture. In its historic center, there is a lot of French influence, seen through the architecture. Additionally, there are great sites such as the El Yunque mountain, Parque Independencia, and the Playa Maguana beach.
Itinerary
Today you'll arrive in Baracoa. Today, you'll be able to reach Baracoa on the mountain pass, "La Farola," which was only created in 1964, after the Cuban Revolution. This trip will take you through desert landscapes full of cacti with a mountain backdrop. Take some time today to start exploring this great city.

Today you'll be able to visit one of the most important national parks in the Caribbean, The Alejandro de Humboldt National Park. Many endangered and rare species are found here as its biodiversity is more vast than on the Galapagos Islands. You can't visit Baracoa without a trip to this great site. Hike for a few hours through the park and treat yourself to a dip in the waterfall pools.

Today is your last day in Baracoa. If you are wishing to continue on and see more of Cuba, there are many available options. For another beach destination, we recommend Playa Larga, located further west along the coast. There you'll experience a dreamy beach, great for snorkeling. Though should you be finished with your holiday and are wanting to return home, Holguin has the nearest international airport. Whatever your plans, we're sure you'll enjoy them.
